From a Lip Balm “Hobby” to a Dream
Rachel has been on a 14-year journey to make her dream a reality.
For the owners of Orange Thyme Apothecary, it all started with a lip balm addition. Rachel started this line of bath and body products 14 years ago while she was working full time as a way to unwind and do something that I was passionate about with my free time. 5 years into her “hobby” that was using so much of her time, Rachel made the decision to leave her job and focus on Orange Thyme full time. She was able to create a nourishing lip balm base that was non-addictive and completely natural (vegan too!).
For 9 years, they were mainly an online business. The line has grown to a production level of 6,000 products per month and Rachel is still a party of one! She does have the help of her husband when needed, which is greatly appreciated. They do focus mostly on wholesale now but do enjoy getting out in public and doing markets and shows to talk to people in person — this year being an exception.
Rachel and her husband absolutely love what they do and can’t imagine it being any different.
In their free time, they enjoy adventures with their 2 dogs, Lando and Marty. Lando is a Corgi and Marty is a Golden Retriever. They have sparked our latest addition to the line: gentle pet products.
